The Azerbaijani ambassador attended the traditional New Year's greetings organized by the President of Malta
On January 15, 2024, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Malta, Rashad Aslanov, participated in the traditional New Year's greetings organized by the President of Malta, Dr. George Vella.
During the event held in the Valletta Palace, G. Vella noted that his 5-year tenure will end in April. He thanked the ambassadors for their effective cooperation and said he has visited most of the countries they represent, one way or the other, and noted that he highly appreciated the hospitality, respect and warmth with which he has always been received.
Saying that Malta is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and the chair of the OSCE for 2024, he noted that these are a great diplomatic success of his country.
George Vella expressed concern about the wars going on in the world, emphasized that issues such as COVID19, climate change, sea level rise are a threat to the world, and brought to the attention of the event participants that it is possible to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals only through equal dialogue.
In addition, Prime Minister of Malta Robert Abela and Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg also met with representatives of the diplomatic corps.
